Piles of photos and letters that need protection?

Piles of photos and letters that need protection?

Women’s World Magazine recently interviewed me for information on what can a busy woman do at home, on her own, really quickly, if she spills her morning ‘Joe’ or a glass of liquid on some photos. I mentioned about the process of writing the article a couple of times on my Facebook Page at “Save Your Stuff.”

Recently, my nephew got married to a really great girl. We are thrilled to have her in our family. Their story of how they met, how they romanced each other and how the proposal went was sooo cute and it was all illustrated in a scrapbook next to the sign-in book at the reception. Everyone got a kick out of looking through it. What a priceless piece of family history that was JUST created! I would be heart sick to know that because of moving or because of some other casual forgetfulness that this scrapbook of memories was to be lost…  So, here are some tips to protect, preserve and save these treasured memories:

What do you have that really has meaning and shows the quality of your business or great moments in personal or family life? Last weekend, my nephew got married to a really great girl. We are thrilled to have her in our family. Their story of how they met, how they romanced each other and how the proposal went was sooo cute and it was all illustrated in a scrapbook next to the sign in book at the reception. Everyone got a kick out of looking through it. What a priceless piece of family history that was JUST created! I would be heart sick to know that because of moving 13 times like newlyweds do or because of some other casual forgetfulness that this scrapbook of memories was to be lost… and these aren’t even MY kids. My sister gets the message though. I wrote her with this suggestion.

Emergency – Disaster – Preparedness at home. An interesting twist

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Last evening I was called over to a house in the LA area. The owner had questions about protecting and preserving framed artwork that are heirlooms and dear memories (same info I have in my book, downloadable here on this site).

As we toured the house we got to talking about his family photos, certificates etc and he got fired up about getting everything copied, digitized, organized and prepared for an emergency (same tasks I outline in my book). He, however, doesn’t have the time as he’s busy with business. So we’re going to do it all for him.

A questions from Lauren in MS –

Still in school so I don’t have that much stuff. Mostly, my stuff is at my parent’s house. All my certificates and photos are in plastic tubs. I learned that in Katrina. Worried about original paintings by me. Any suggestions?
